Preparing for the Great Work ahead by Van, December, 1996 Mission to Vietnam I never thought that I would go back; And yet not by myself but with brothers and sisters. With a joyful heart, "I thank You, Lord, because You love Vietnam and her people". Ha Long Bay, I have heard about. Now, I admire having touched it. Islands of every size and shape, all together praise and worship the Creator. I didn't know what to do; where to live; who to see; how long I'll be here and how to go about from here? "Thank you, Lord, for Your abundant grace. You blessed, safe-guarded and cared". "Gone with the wind," a name that I've given to this trip. The wind of God came and moved on. We just followed and received its blessings. Hue, a forbidden city and citadel, Standing up where they were constructed. But where have kings gone? The generations after went there to remember. Da Nang, where the first missionary arrived to our beloved country Vietnam. The Gospel spread out from there, up north, down south, and to the end of Vietnam. I longed to go to the city, Saigon by name of old, now Ho Chi Minh. I was happy, sad, having self-pity, emotional. Who could understand this feeling? Coming back, there's a hope in me. Seeing the faith of faithful Christians who were thirsting for the Word of God, encourages me to prepare for the work ahead. |
