Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake

Passage: MT 5:10-12 - "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.  Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.  Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you."

Description:
"Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake..."

Blessed to be persecuted?  How can it be?  We pity our brothers and sisters around the world who suffer and we pray that God would set them free from suffering, don't we?

Consider carefully these words of our Lord Jesus, and discover that indeed there is incalculable value in being persecuted for righteousness' sake!
