A sharing by Helen Chang for this song:
At one time in the past when I had lost all hope in life, I felt it would have been better if I was suffocated. At least, I only had to endure the suffocation for some minutes and then the end would come — the end of my misery and hopelessness. That may have been the ultimate release. But I was still breathing and walking around like a zombie while being in a dark tunnel with no light at the end of it!
Minutes felt like days, and days felt endlessly long such that I even shunned music, my one love in life from childhood. One night as I aimlessly knelt by my bed and cried out to God, I suddenly noticed the bright moon hanging in the clear sky out of the window. At once the song “It Took A Miracle” written by John Peterson came to mind and the lyrics in the chorus suddenly sounded so loud and clear in my ears:
It took a miracle to put the stars in place;
It took a miracle to hang the world in space.
But when He saved my soul,
Cleansed and made me whole,
It took a miracle of love and grace!
Oh, is there anything too difficult for God, our Creator? If He could hang the moon and the stars in space, could there be any problem too hard for Him to solve? Well I knew in my head that He can solve all my hopelessness but … Yes, this word BUT is in my heart like a solid rock till that moment when I saw the moon as if I had never seen it like that in all my life. How very unique indeed!
There and then I cried out for His forgiveness for my unbelief, which had led to the hardening of my heart and my hopeless state! No wonder it says in Romans 15:13 that our Creator is the God of hope and He alone can fill us with all joy and peace in believing, that we may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Spirit! Yes indeed, it is to have the assured hope in living a life pleasing to God without the excuses of all one’s natural weaknesses and shortcomings!
May you also find such hope in the LORD should you ever feel weak, discouraged and hopeless.
